In this book, “Imagine a world without colour, and can that even be true?”, we are reminded that Colour in Nature is there for a reason. When I have asked people if they have noticed how colourful the world we live in is, they will agree that it is, but act surprised as to why I would ask that question. When I then ask if they know the reason why Colour in Nature is there, they then act confused and it is as if they had never thought about it. In this story, Granddad had asked Martin to make up a song about Colour in Nature so that people will become more aware how important colour in Nature is to all that is on our planet and that it was designed that way for all on our planet to survive and thrive each in their own unique way. For us humans, as well as having all our senses, we also have language. We use language to communicate as well as for our self-talk. Our Self-talk is the conversation we have with our self in our head. The words we use can either be interpreted to be negative or positive, but sadly, for many reasons we have gradually become more negative in our use of words and so use negative interpretations instead of being balanced in our thinking and self-talk. Meaning the words we choose are very often used in a negative way, and that in turn can make us feel negative, and sadly that in turn can lead to all sorts of negative emotions. For example, it can make us sad, angry, frustrated, stressed, anxious, depressed, and having more serious negative thoughts. In this story after having given the children each a journal, and having taught the children to interpret their words in a positive way. Granddad enjoyed being with the children so much he offered to come to meet Gina everyday to take her across the road instead of it being her mum or grandmother. Jason having told his brother Martin about this, made Martin feel confident that when he was ready to show Granddad the words for his song, Granddad would be sure to be there. So, the two points to take away from this story are to notice the positive words the children use, and what Martin shares in the song “Colour in Nature” that he will be producing. I hope you enjoy reading Volume 6, which will be the last of the Colour in Nature series, and you become more positive in the use of words.
